As an educator and a professional hair colorist one thing I always recommend to help hair hold color longer is to get hair back to it's healthy pH of 4.5-5.5. This is the preferred pH that is desired for healthy happy hair. As we know water has a general pH of 7, a permanent oxidative color falls somewhere in the range of 8-11.5 pH .
